For more than a decade, Marou has partnered with cacao fermenters, farmers, suppliers, and customers to encourage best practices for sustainability in agriculture and through environmentally conscious retail operations.
We’re always developing cacao in a sustainable way to ensure our growth and the quality of our chocolate. Marou is leading ways to grow cacao in Vietnam and utilize existing forest that sustains ecosystems and habitats rather than clear cutting forest.
We prefer to work directly with farmers and be right there in the action, to see for ourselves what is taking place. Our team is known for its dedication, experience and generosity for sharing best practices on the field and publishing training manuals for farmers.

Bars to books
Books gathered from our own offices grew into children's libraries across Vietnam — thousands donated so far, from Saigon to Đắk Lắk.
Farmer's day
One day each year we hand the story back to the growers: the families whose harvests become every bar we make.
Cacao seedlings
Each year, young cacao trees travel out to the growers. In 2025, Marou delivered 49,000 seedlings to 252 farmers across 8 provinces.
Demonstration farms
A model farm in each of 6 provinces shows what soil care, organic farming, and biochar can do. What works spreads to cacao-growing communities.
Cacao agroforestry
27 hectares in Binh Dinh, Kien Giang, and Lam Dong grow cacao under the canopy, a model for regenerative and resilient cacao farming.
Cacao husk packaging
The husk left after roasting comes back as packaging: 20% cacao husk, 40% recycled paper, 40% handmade Vietnamese Dó paper.
