Accounts Payable & VAT Reporting Accountant

Role Purpose
Marou is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Accountant & VAT Reporting Accountant to join our Finance team. This role will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of fixed assets, and preparing VAT reports in compliance with tax regulations.
The ideal candidate should have a solid accounting background, strong attention to detail, good analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with internal departments and external partners. This position plays an important role in ensuring timely supplier payments, accurate asset records, proper VAT declaration, and strong financial control within a growing artisanal chocolate company.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Management
- Review and verify supplier invoices, contracts, purchase orders, delivery notes, and supporting documents before payment processing.
- Record accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor outstanding payables and ensure payments are made in accordance with agreed payment terms.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies with vendors or internal departments.
- Prepare payment proposals and support bank payment processing.
- Maintain proper filing of supplier invoices, payment documents, and related accounting records.
Fixed Asset Accounting
- Record new fixed asset additions, transfers, disposals, and write-offs in the accounting system.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Calculate and record monthly depreciation in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to perform periodic physical fixed asset counts.
- Reconcile fixed asset records with the general ledger and investigate any differences.
- Support documentation for fixed asset purchases, disposals, and internal approvals.
VAT Reporting and Tax Compliance
- Review input VAT invoices to ensure they are valid, accurate, and supported by proper documentation.
- Check output VAT invoices to ensure correct tax rate, customer information, invoice description, and timing of issuance.
- Prepare monthly or quarterly VAT reports and reconcile VAT balances with accounting records.
- Monitor deductible VAT, VAT payable, and VAT carried forward.
- Support VAT refund documentation where applicable, especially for export-related transactions.
- Coordinate with the Chief Accountant and tax advisors on VAT compliance matters.
- Maintain proper filing of VAT invoices, tax declarations, payment documents, and supporting records.
Month-end Closing and Reporting
- Support month-end closing activities related to accounts payable, fixed assets, and VAT.
- Prepare relevant schedules, reconciliations, and supporting reports for management review.
- Assist in statutory audits, tax audits, and internal control reviews.
- Provide supporting documents and explanations to auditors, tax consultants, and tax authorities when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable and fixed asset accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software, such as Dynamics 365 Business Central or SAP, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification, such as CPA or ACCA, preferred.
- Proven track record of managing accounts payable processes and fixed asset accounting.
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
Working Schedule and Location
- Working time: Monday–Friday.
- Working location: Green Building, 160 Street B2, An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
